Arkab in N’Djamena Representing the Algerian President at ‘SEMICA Chad 2026’

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, is set to participate in the inauguration of the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries, and Hydrocarbons, “SEMICA Chad 2026,” held under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.

Minister Arkab will be representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in the event that will take place from January 21 to 23, in the capital, N’Djamena.

He will be accompanied by a ministerial delegation including the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bashir, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, the CEO of Sonatrach Nourredine Daoudi, the CEO of Naftal, Djamal Chardoud, and the CEO of the Algerian Cement Industries Group (GICA), Rabah Guessoum, along with senior officials from the sectors of hydrocarbons, mines, energy, and industry.

Algeria’s participation in this important event, as the guest of honor at “SEMICA Chad 2026,” comes as an opportunity to share its expertise, experience, and vision in developing extractive industries. This participation reinforces the African dimension and South–South cooperation and contributes to supporting efforts aimed at making the mining sector a strategic driver of sustainable economic and social development across the African continent, the Algerian Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines said in a statement on Tuesday.

Arkab will also participate in a high-level seminar entitled “Extractive Industries for Sustainable Economic and Social Development: What Strategy for African Countries?” Additionally, he and his accompanying delegation will hold a series of bilateral meetings with several ministers and heads of Chadian and international companies, particularly those active in the fields of energy, mining, and industry, to discuss prospects for cooperation, enhance investment opportunities, and exchange expertise, the statement said.

Algeria’s presence at the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries, and Hydrocarbons, “SEMICA Chad 2026,” will also include a dedicated pavilion to showcase and promote the activities of the Sonatrach and Sonarem groups, as well as Naftal, highlighting their expertise and experience in the fields of hydrocarbons and mining.
