Algerian Minister of Communication Mohamed Meziane said Sunday that Algeria’s hosting of the 4th Inter-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) is a strong message confirming its commitment to support the African integration process and promote the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for the benefit of the continent’s peoples and to achieve sustainable development.
Chairing an information day on “the challenges of the Intra-African Trade Fair,” Meziane said that “much more than just an economic meeting, Algeria’s hosting of this strategic event sends a strong message that confirms our country’s commitment to supporting the African integration process, boosting intra-African trade and promoting the African Continental Free Trade Area in the interests of our peoples, sustainable development and shared prosperity.”
By hosting Africa’s major economic and trade event, Algeria is serving as a bridge “for the promotion of trade and integration between African countries,” reiterating “its unwavering commitment to supporting joint African action and the economic integration process as key drivers of sustainable development, with the potential to open up broader prospects for exchange and partnership, contributing to security and stability in the continent.”
Meziane said the IATF 2025 “is not merely an economic and commercial space, but a platform for intercultural encounters and an opportunity to give substance to communication and interaction between African peoples with a shared history.”
African peoples “need, now more than ever, effective communication spaces and spaces where investors, journalists, innovators and decision-makers can come together to build bridges of understanding and partnership and lay the foundations for a shared future.”
The communication minister put forward the substantial role of African media, inviting them to “increase efforts demonstrating the continent’s resources and diversity and to shed light on success stories that give hope and show that Africa is able to shape its own future through its children.”
This vision, he added, “embodies the principle enshrined by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, through the promotion of African solutions to African problems.”
Meziane said supporting “this exceptional event is at the heart of his department’s priorities, to ensure comprehensive and professional media coverage that reflects the economic importance of this fair and promotes the true image of Algeria, namely, a safe, open and attractive place for partnerships and investments.”
