Death Toll from Landslide in the Northern India Rises to 41

The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in the Jammu and Kashmir region has risen to 41, according to local media reports on Thursday. A prior report had indicated 30 fatalities.
Most of the victims were pilgrims visiting Hindu shrines in the area. At least 34 individuals lost their lives due to a landslide near Adhkunwari, while others died as a result of flooding in the mountainous Doda region.
Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have reported that the rains and flooding have caused extensive damage to infrastructure. Bridges, telecommunications towers, and electrical pylons have collapsed. Traffic on roads and railways has been halted, and numerous mountain roads remain blocked or damaged.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has urged district officials to stay on high alert. The administration has also advised residents to avoid traveling to areas prone to flooding.
