NOUAKCHOTT — As part of his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, Brahim Boughali, held a series of high-level meetings and visits aimed at reinforcing Algerian-Mauritanian relations, particularly in the fields of transport and parliamentary cooperation.
On Tuesday, Boughali received Mauritania’s Minister of Equipment and Transport, Ely Sid’Ahmed Elveirick, at his residence in Nouakchott. The meeting focused on revitalizing bilateral cooperation in the transport sector—deemed vital to both nations. The two sides stressed the need for a dynamic partnership based on shared interests and economic development, highlighting the importance of easing administrative procedures at border crossings and enhancing the role of Algerian economic operators in promoting mutually beneficial trade.
Continuing his agenda, Boughali visited the port of Nouakchott on Wednesday, accompanied by Algeria’s ambassador to Mauritania and a parliamentary delegation. He was welcomed by port officials who presented the port’s technical, logistical, and economic capabilities, emphasizing its role in bolstering Mauritania’s economy. The visit underscored Algeria’s interest in strengthening maritime cooperation and exploring logistical synergies.
In a cultural highlight of the visit, Boughali also toured the Museum of the Prophet’s Biography in Nouakchott, alongside the Speaker of the Mauritanian National Assembly, Mohamed Bamba Meguett. He expressed admiration for the museum’s educational mission and stressed its value in promoting Islamic principles and historical awareness among younger generations.
These engagements reflect the deep strategic and fraternal ties between Algeria and Mauritania, as both nations reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing cooperation across key sectors for the benefit of their peoples and the broader region.
