Trump Announces ‘Full and Comprehensive’ US-UK Trade Deal, First Since Tariff Measures

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the United States and the United Kingdom have finalized a “full and comprehensive” trade agreement, marking the first major trade deal since his administration imposed sweeping tariffs earlier this year.

Trump hailed the deal as a pivotal step in strengthening the transatlantic alliance, calling it a milestone that will “cement the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom for many years to come.” He emphasized the decision to prioritize the UK was due to “historic ties” and indicated that several other trade deals are nearing completion.

In a post on Truth Social, the president said this agreement is just the beginning, with “many other deals” in advanced stages of negotiation. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently revealed the administration is in talks with 17 major trading partners, expressing optimism that most agreements will be finalized before year’s end.

Specific terms of the US-UK deal remain undisclosed but are expected to be outlined during a press conference at the White House at 10 a.m. US Eastern time (1400GMT). Trump promised “a very big and exciting day” for both nations, signaling a strategic shift in US trade policy post-tariffs.
