China declared on Wednesday that it will “firmly advance” efforts toward reunification with Taiwan.
According to a government work report submitted to the national legislature for deliberation, the country will enhance institutions and policies to promote economic and cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Strait and foster integrated development to improve the “well-being of Chinese people on both sides.”
China also reiterated its opposition to “unilateralism and protectionism in all forms,” emphasizing its commitment to an “independent foreign policy of peace” and the “path of peaceful development.”
