The Spanish ambassador to Algeria, Fernando Moran Calvo-Sotelo, commended the Algerian authorities on Wednesday in Algiers for their “critical contribution” to the release of Joaquim Navarro Canada, a kidnapped Spanish national, highlighting Algeria’s “essential role in the fight against terrorism.”
During the handover of the freed Spanish national at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs—supervised by the ministry’s Secretary General, Lounès Magramane—the ambassador acknowledged “the decisive contributions of the Algerian authorities and all measures taken” to secure the release of the abducted individual.
He emphasized that this operation “once again illustrates for Spain that Algeria plays a crucial role in the fight against terrorism to ensure our collective security.”
