Los Angeles Wildfires: Death Toll Rises to 27

Severe wildfires in the Los Angeles area of Southern California have resulted in at least 27 fatalities and the destruction of over 12,300 structures within just over a week, local authorities confirmed on Thursday.
Firefighters are making significant progress against two major fire fronts in Los Angeles as winds in the region have calmed down.
Officials have warned that tens of thousands of residents who were evacuated due to the fires will need to wait “at least another week” before they can return home, citing concerns about potential landslides and exposure to toxic substances.
