China to Send Vice President to Attend Trump’s Inauguration

Beijing announced on Friday that Chinese Vice President Han Zheng will attend the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in Washington next week. This marks a significant diplomatic gesture as Han will represent President Xi Jinping at the event.
Trump will take the presidential oath of office on Monday, and his transition team had previously revealed in December that the president-elect had broken tradition by inviting world leaders, including Chinese President Xi, to the ceremony.
In a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that Han Zheng’s presence at the inauguration reflects China’s commitment to fostering diplomatic relations with the United States. The ministry emphasized that China adheres to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation in its relationship with the U.S.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson further stated that Beijing is ready to work with the new U.S. administration to improve dialogue and communication. China aims to continue developing stable, healthy, and lasting relations with the United States and seeks a path forward that aligns with both countries’ mutual interests.
This diplomatic move comes as both nations look to maintain cooperation and navigate the challenges of international relations in the coming years.
