EU Denies Decision on Deployment of Troops in Ukraine

The European Union has made it clear that it has not made any decision regarding the deployment of its troops to Ukraine, either with a specific mandate or in any other capacity. EU foreign policy spokesman Peter Stano reiterated this stance during a briefing on Monday, emphasizing that no such decision has been made at this stage.

Stano’s remarks come amidst heightened military and financial support from Western countries to Ukraine since February 2022. Russia has consistently argued that the flow of weapons to Ukraine complicates efforts to resolve the conflict and directly involves NATO countries in the hostilities. The EU’s position suggests a cautious approach to direct military involvement, even as it continues to support Ukraine through other means.
