Lebanon: Over 100 MPs Urge UNESCO to Protect the Country’s Historical Sites

More than 100 Lebanese lawmakers have called on UNESCO to safeguard the historical sites of Lebanon, which are currently under threat from Zionist airstrikes, particularly affecting the ancient cities of Baalbek and Tyre.
“In the course of the devastating war against Lebanon,” the lawmakers stated in a letter to UNESCO’s Director-General, Audrey Azoulay, “the Zionist entity has committed serious human rights violations and atrocities.”
They emphasized, “We draw your attention to an urgent need: the protection of Lebanon’s history in Baalbek, Tyre, Sidon, and other invaluable sites presently at risk.”
Since the end of September, these attacks by the Zionist army across various regions of Lebanon have resulted in the loss of 2,600 lives, according to the Lebanese Minister of Health.
