Zionist Weapons Ships Return to Moroccan Ports Amid Growing Public Outrage

The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement in Morocco revealed that ships carrying Zionist weapons intended for the extermination of Palestinians in Gaza have once again docked at Moroccan ports. On Wednesday, the vessel Maersk Denver berthed at the Tangier Med port, reigniting outrage over Morocco’s complicity in facilitating military shipments to the occupation.

In a statement entitled “Continuous Complicity”, BDS Morocco denounced the return of the ship, stressing that at a time when Moroccans and people of conscience worldwide are witnessing the ongoing genocide against Palestinians, the same Maersk Denver—previously implicated in transporting American military cargo to the Zionist entity—was once again allowed to dock at Tangier Med. Documents released in November 2024 showed that this vessel had offloaded dozens of containers filled with military equipment, including an armored vehicle from the United States, which was then reloaded onto another ship that continued toward an occupation port.

The movement condemned the Moroccan authorities for allowing their ports to become a logistical hub serving the Zionist war machine, questioning the moral and legal responsibility behind such actions. Since November 2024, Tangier Med has become a central operational point for Maersk in the Mediterranean, repeatedly handling vessels loaded with military equipment destined for the occupation—among them the Maersk Atlanta and Maersk Norfolk, which docked in Morocco in July. Meanwhile, the Moroccan Front in Support of Palestine and Against Normalization has called for mass participation in a protest march this Saturday in Casablanca, as part of sustained popular mobilization against normalization.

It is worth recalling that public protests in Morocco have sharply intensified since the beginning of the Zionist aggression on Gaza in October 2023. Moroccans have firmly rejected the shameful normalization policy with the Zionist entity and continue to oppose the use of their national ports in service of a criminal occupation.
