Zionist Forces Open Fire on Palestinians in Gaza City

Tanks from the occupying Zionist forces opened fire Tuesday morning on several Palestinians in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of southern Gaza City, according to reports from the Wafa news agency. The occupation forces targeted individuals attempting to return to their homes near Khalil Al-Noubani School in the southern area of Al-Zaytoun, as specified by Wafa.

Additionally, the occupation forces fired upon the northeastern border of Khan Younes, located in the southern Gaza Strip, the same source reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced that it had recovered the bodies of 10 Palestinians on Monday; these bodies were found in an advanced state of decomposition along Al-Rashid Street in the Gaza Strip.

Moreover, medical sources indicated that 250 displaced individuals were admitted to the hospital on the same day, noting that these Palestinians, who were trying to reach northern Gaza, were suffering from exhaustion. Thousands of displaced Palestinians began gradually returning to their towns in northern Gaza on Monday as part of a ceasefire agreement reached after nearly 16 months of relentless aggression by the Zionist forces.

Between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, the Zionist occupation forces launched an assault on the Gaza Strip, resulting in 158,000 casualties, including both killed and injured, predominantly children and women, with over 14,000 people reported missing. This aggression has also led to the displacement of more than 85% of the population in the Gaza Strip, amounting to over 1.93 million individuals out of the 2.2 million residing in the Palestinian enclave.
