World Cup Qualifiers: Algeria Secures Significant Victory Over Botswana (3-1)

The Algerian national football team achieved a crucial 3-1 victory against Botswana on Friday afternoon at the “Obed Itani Chilumede” Stadium in Francistown, during the fifth matchday of Group G in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Despite playing under the sweltering sun at 2:00 PM, the Greens summoned the necessary moral and physical strength to secure this valuable away win, allowing them to join Mozambique at the top of the group, with both teams now having twelve points.
Algeria’s first goal was scored by Amine Gouiri in the 44th minute, following a delightful pass from Hicham Boudaoui. The speedy forward Mohamed Amine Amoura, hailing from VfL Wolfsburg, added two more goals for the Greens in the second half. His first came shortly after halftime, assisted by Gouiri in the 51st minute, while his second arrived in the 73rd minute, set up by Aïssa Mandi. Notably, the home team managed to reduce the deficit when Kopelang found the back of the net in the 70th minute.
Matchday 5 of Group G commenced on Thursday with Mozambique’s victory over Uganda (3-1). The day’s matches concluded on Friday night with the game between Guinea and Somalia.
