World Championship of Yoseikan Budo kicks off in Oran with 400 athletes from 15 countries

ORAN—The World Championship of Yoseikan Budo by clubs and nations commenced on Saturday at the Miloud-Hadefi sports complex in Oran.

This three-day event, organised by the Algerian Federation of the discipline under the auspices of the International Federation of Yoseikan Budo, features over 400 male and female athletes representing 15 countries.

Martin Kurth, President of the International Federation of Yoseikan Budo, expressed his gratitude to the Algerian authorities for hosting this world championship and for mobilising all necessary resources to ensure its success. He noted that Algeria has gained the trust of international sports organisations owing to the significant investments made by the Algerian state in sports, particularly the successful hosting of the recent Mediterranean Games in Oran.

The first two days of the competition will focus on individual events by clubs and nations across various weight categories for juniors and seniors, including armed and unarmed combat.

The finals for team events in armed and unarmed combat, as well as kata, are scheduled to take place on Tuesday. Besides, Algeria is participating in this global event with 90 athletes from both junior and senior categories in the two disciplines.
