World Aquatics Championships 2025: Algeria’s Melih, Syoud, and Sahnoune to Compete in Singapore

Algerian swimmers Amel Melih, Jaouad Syoud, and Oussama Sahnoune will represent Algeria at the 22nd World Championships, scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 3 at the World Aquatics Championships Arena in Singapore, according to a schedule released on Tuesday by World Aquatics.

Amel Melih will compete in the 50m backstroke on Wednesday, July 30. She will follow that with heats for the 50m butterfly on Friday, August 1, and conclude her events with the 50m freestyle race on Saturday, August 2—a specialty in which she holds the national record at the age of 31.

Jaouad Syoud is set to participate in the 200m butterfly and the 50m breaststroke on Tuesday, July 29. He will also compete in the 200m individual medley on Wednesday, July 30, followed by the 200m breaststroke on Thursday, July 31, and conclude with the heats of the 400m individual medley on Sunday, August 3.

Oussama Sahnoune will also be part of the 22nd World Championships in Singapore, competing exclusively in the 50m freestyle event on Friday, August 1.

A number of elite swimmers are expected to shine at the World Championships in Singapore, including Léon Marchand, Katie Ledecky, Thomas Ceccon, Summer McIntosh, and Kaylee McKeown.
