Witkoff Heads to Moscow as Washington Pushes Forward Ukraine Peace Plan

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is set to travel to Moscow on Monday for high-level talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to an American official who spoke to Fox News. The visit comes at a moment when negotiations between Russia and Ukraine appear to be gaining momentum, with the White House actively promoting a peace proposal aimed at ending nearly four years of conflict.
Witkoff’s Moscow mission follows a significant meeting on Sunday in Florida, where he joined Ukrainian negotiators alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio and senior advisor Jared Kushner. Witkoff is now positioned at the center of Washington’s diplomatic push to secure a workable roadmap for ending the war in Ukraine.
Rubio described the Florida talks as “very productive,” stressing that the objective extends beyond simply stopping the fighting. He emphasized that the United States and Ukraine are seeking not only an end to the bloodshed but also a settlement that preserves Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and long-term prospects for prosperity.
