WHO: Gaza’s Nasser Hospital Has Become a Massive Trauma Ward

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Friday that Gaza’s Nasser Medical Complex has effectively turned into “one large trauma ward” due to the influx of injuries from food distribution sites managed by the U.S.- and Israeli-backed “Gaza Relief” organization, which operates independently of the United Nations.
The group began distributing food packages in Gaza at the end of May as part of a new aid model, which the United Nations has described as unneutral and unfair. The organization has repeatedly denied any incidents of injuries or deaths at its sites.
Speaking to reporters in Geneva, Rick Peeperkorn, WHO representative in the occupied Palestinian territories, said, “For weeks, medical staff at Nasser Medical Complex have been treating daily injuries, most of them coming from so-called safe zones not managed by the United Nations.”
He added that the hospital is now functioning entirely as a trauma center, overwhelmed by the consequences of the ongoing crisis and the lack of neutral aid distribution mechanisms.
