Western Sahara : The Sahrawi government condemns Chad’s decision to open a “consulate” in occupied Dakhla

The Sahrawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep astonishment at the unilateral approach undertaken by the Chadian government on August 14, as the latter announced the opening of an alleged “consulate” in the city of Dakhla, which is part of the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

The Sahrawi government considered this decision to be illegal since it contradicts and violates the UN resolutions and recommendations, as well as the judgements of the International Court of Justice, in addition to the Constitutive Act of the African Union.

Accordingly, the Sahrawi government affirmed that this “provocative and aggressive” approach by Chad is an attack on the sovereignty of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, which will entail adverse repercussions on the territorial integrity.
