Western Sahara: German Solidarity Movement Condemns Arson Attack on “Global Aktion”

The German Solidarity Movement supporting the Sahrawi people has denounced the “criminal” attack on the offices of the Danish NGO “Global Aktion,” which advocates for the Sahrawi people’s struggle for self-determination. The movement has called for the protection of the organization and the safety of its members.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the movement expressed its “dismay” over the assault on an organization renowned for its support of the Sahrawi people’s legitimate aspirations for freedom and independence.
The German network emphasized that “this cowardly attack is not only a criminal act but also a blatant response to the political solidarity efforts that Global Aktion has undertaken for years in support of the people of Western Sahara.”
According to the movement, the attack aims to “intimidate those who defend the rights of the Sahrawi people. However, these attempts to silence supportive voices are destined to fail.”
The German Solidarity Movement concluded its statement by asserting, “As defenders of the rights of the Sahrawi people and advocates for a world where freedom and justice prevail, we firmly condemn these intimidation attempts and call for the protection of the organization and the safety of its members.”
The offices of the Danish NGO Global Aktion, which focuses on fostering international solidarity with the Sahrawi people, were targeted in a Molotov cocktail attack in the early hours of January 13, resulting in significant material damage.
