Vance Says Trump Keeps Military Option on Iran if Diplomacy Fails

US Vice President JD Vance said President Donald Trump is keeping all options open in dealing with Iran, emphasizing that diplomacy and other non-military means will be pursued first, but warning that force remains a possibility. Speaking to Megyn Kelly, Vance said the administration’s approach is flexible and driven by outcomes rather than ideology.
“If he feels like the military is the only option, then he’s ultimately going to choose that option,” Vance said, highlighting that the use of force would be considered only if other efforts prove ineffective.
Vance also stressed that Washington’s position is clear that Iran must not acquire a nuclear weapon. He added that the United States is prepared to work with China, Russia, and other countries to reduce the number of nuclear weapons worldwide, presenting the issue as part of a broader global security objective.
