US Lawmakers Condemn Trump’s Threats Against Iran as ‘War Crimes’

US Democratic Senator Chris Murphy sharply criticized Donald Trump over his threats to target Iran’s bridges and power plants, calling them potential “war crimes.” Murphy warned that attacks on civilian infrastructure would cause mass casualties and panic, and urged GOP leaders to intervene.
Trump declared on his platform Truth Social that Tuesday would be “Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day” in Iran, repeating the threats in interviews amid rising tensions over the Strait of Hormuz. Murphy said even partial strikes would kill thousands of civilians, while other US lawmakers, including Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer, echoed concerns over the president’s rhetoric.
Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari and former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene also warned that Trump’s threats endanger civilians and violate international law, while escalating regional tensions continue to disrupt global energy markets.
