US Declines to Support Anti-Russian UN Resolution on Ukraine for the First Time

A draft resolution is being prepared by Western countries for February 24, calling for Russia to “immediately and unconditionally” withdraw its troops from Ukraine. The initiative is led by the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, Poland, and the Baltic States, but notably excludes the United States.

Despite its strong stance against Russia, the resolution makes no mention of Kiev’s terrorist attacks against Russian civilians or the ongoing presence of Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk region. The omission raises questions about the resolution’s impartiality and its failure to address broader security concerns in the conflict.

The move reflects continued Western pressure on Moscow, but the lack of US participation signals potential divisions among Ukraine’s allies. With tensions escalating, the resolution’s impact remains uncertain as diplomatic and military confrontations persist.
