US Confirms Capability to Strike Iran’s Fordow Nuclear Site with Bunker-Buster Bomb
Washington – The United States has the capability to destroy Iran’s most heavily fortified nuclear facility using the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), a 30,000-pound bunker-buster bomb, according to a report published Wednesday by Axios, citing senior American officials.
“The bunker buster will work. It’s not a capabilities issue. We have the capability,” one senior official said, referring to the possibility of targeting the Fordow nuclear facility — Iran’s deepest and most protected uranium enrichment site. However, the official emphasized that any attack would be part of a larger plan: “It’s not just drop a bunker buster and declare victory.”
According to the report, US President Donald Trump has directly questioned military advisers about the MOP’s effectiveness against Fordow. Pentagon officials reportedly expressed confidence in the bomb’s ability to neutralize the site, though no final decision has been made. “We’re going to be ready to strike Iran. We’re not convinced yet that we’re necessary,” the source added.
