US Celebrates Longstanding Diplomatic Relationships With Algeria

The United States of America celebrated the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Amity with Algeria (1795-2026), which laid the foundation for one of America’s longest-standing diplomatic relationships, reaffirming the strength of their bilateral historical and diplomatic ties.

“Every story has a beginning. For the United States and Algeria one of our earliest chapters was written with the 1795’s Treaty of Peace and Amity, which laid the foundation for one of America’s longest-standing diplomatic relationships,” US embassy said on its social media account, publishing the text of the oldest treaty between the two countries, ratified in 5 September 1795. “More than two centuries later, that spirit of diplomacy continues through dialogue, cooperation, and people-to-people ties,” added the embassy.

“As the United States marks 250 years of independence, we reflect on the partnerships that have helped shape our journey, including a long-standing relationship with Algeria,” according to the US diplomatic representation.
