UN’s Guterres Calls for Two-State Solution and Upholds Palestinian Rights

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized the importance of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to live on their land, and reaffirmed that the two-state solution remains the only path to achieving lasting peace.
Speaking at the annual meeting of the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People at the UN headquarters in New York, Guterres stressed the need to adhere to international law and to avoid any actions that might escalate the crisis further.
Guterres called for a halt to any measures that could exacerbate the situation, including forced displacement, which he described as ethnic cleaning. He also highlighted the ongoing efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in need, urging the international community and donors to provide full funding for humanitarian operations.
He specifically called for support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which provides essential relief services to Palestinian refugees.
