UNRWA Urges Immediate Ceasefire to Alleviate the Suffering of Millions in Gaza

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a stark warning about the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, highlighting repeated displacements and severe shortages of essential supplies. The agency reiterated its call for an “immediate ceasefire” to alleviate the suffering of millions.

In a post on X, UNRWA emphasized that families across Gaza, including in Deir al-Balah, are enduring “dire conditions” as relentless shelling forces them to move repeatedly. Many have sought refuge in overcrowded UNRWA schools and makeshift tents, struggling to access food, water, and medical aid. The agency stressed the urgent need to ensure unhindered humanitarian assistance to address the escalating crisis.

Since October 7, 2023, nearly two million of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have been displaced due to ongoing aggression. Severe shortages of food, water, and medicine have led to famine in many areas, particularly in the north, as residents face deliberate starvation and genocidal policies aimed at forcing migration to the south.
