UNRWA Reports Over 33,000 Palestinian Refugees Displaced in West Bank Since Ramadan

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Sunday that more than 33,000 Palestinian refugees in the occupied West Bank have spent Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr away from their homes this year, under extremely harsh conditions and amid escalating violence in various areas due to the ongoing Zionist aggression.

The Director of UNRWA Affairs in the West Bank, Roland Friedrich, said that a surge in Israeli settler attacks, often going unpunished, has led to deadly consequences and accelerated coercive conditions and the displacement of Palestinian communities, particularly in Area C, which is home to large numbers of refugees.

He pointed out that more than 33,000 refugees are observing this occasion for the second consecutive year away from their homes in the camps of Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams, under strict movement restrictions that have prevented them from visiting relatives and friends or performing prayers at holy sites.

Friedrich noted that UNRWA has continued to deliver its services, expanding its assistance during the month of Ramadan to reach thousands of the most vulnerable families, through the provision of cash and food aid in coordination with humanitarian partners.

The Director of UNRWA Affairs in the occupied West Bank expressed hope that the displaced would return to their homes and that peace and stability would prevail in the region.
