UNRWA Chief Warns Famine is Latest Calamity to Hit Palestinians in GAZA

The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned that famine has become the latest calamity to strike the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip. He described the situation as catastrophic, declaring that “hell is manifesting itself in all its forms in Gaza,” and recalled that the global vow of “never again” continues to haunt humanity as the world fails to prevent new atrocities.

In a statement published on X, Lazzarini condemned what he called “the most hideous form of dehumanization” — the denial of Palestinian suffering. He called on the Zionist occupation forces to put an end to their misleading propaganda and immediately allow humanitarian organizations to deliver life-saving aid without restrictions to the starving civilian population.

The UNRWA chief further stressed the urgent need for transparency, urging that international journalists be granted free access to Gaza to report independently on the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe. He warned that “every hour that passes has a price,” underscoring that time is running out as the Zionist siege continues to push Palestinians toward famine and despair.
