UNIFIL Urges Zionist Entity to Cease Attacks on Lebanese Civilians

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) called on Friday for the Zionist entity to refrain from targeting Lebanese civilians and to adhere to the ceasefire agreement in effect since November 27, 2024.

In an interview with the Lebanese National News Agency (ANI), Candice Ardell, Deputy Director of UNIFIL’s Media Office, stated that the peacekeeping force rejects any actions that could harm civilians. She confirmed that clear instructions had been sent to the Zionist occupation forces to avoid such actions.

Ardell also revealed that the Zionist entity had contacted UNIFIL regarding a Lebanese civilian abducted on Thursday near the southern Lebanese town of Taloussa, requesting assistance in evacuating the individual.

“Shortly after the request, UNIFIL peacekeepers, accompanied by the Lebanese Red Cross, evacuated the civilian—an employee of a UNIFIL contractor—who was on his way to work at a UNIFIL base. He was transferred to Tebnine Hospital,” Ardell explained.

The Lebanese government strongly condemned the abduction of its citizen by a unit of the Zionist occupation forces and urged the international community, particularly UNIFIL, to intervene and ensure his release.

“These actions represent a direct violation of the ceasefire in place since November 27, 2024, and international law,” the Lebanese government emphasized in a statement cited by ANI.
