UN Voices Concern Over Ethnic Cleansing in Gaza, West Bank

The United Nations expressed Thursday its concern over the ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, due to intensified attacks by the Zionist occupation and the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians, the Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported.

A report by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said that “intensified attacks, the methodical destruction of entire neighborhoods, and the denial of humanitarian assistance appeared to aim at a permanent demographic shift in Gaza.” It further stressed that these actions, “together with forcible transfers, which appear to aim at a permanent displacement, raise concerns over ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank.” Multiple cities, towns, and refugee camps across the occupied West Bank and al-Quds witness daily raids and incursions by the occupation army, accompanied by clashes, arrests, live and rubber-bullet fire, as well as the use of tear gas against Palestinian youth.

In the Gaza Strip, and for two years, the Zionist occupation carried out a mass genocidal war, including killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring international appeals and the rulings by the International Court of Justice to halt it.

Since 7 October 2023, the Zionist aggression against the enclave has claimed 72,063 lives and left an additional 171,726 wounded.
