UN Reports 181 Humanitarian Workers Killed in Gaza Amid Ongoing Conflict

Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, announced that 181 humanitarian workers lost their lives in the Gaza Strip in 2024 amidst a brutal Zionist offensive that began on October 7, 2023.
At least 390 humanitarian workers have been killed while carrying out their duties globally in 2024, including 181 in Gaza, Dujarric stated during a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York, coinciding with World Humanitarian Day, which is observed annually on August 19.
He expressed alarm over the increasing frequency of armed conflicts worldwide, noting that they remain the leading cause of attacks against humanitarian workers.
On the same day, the UN reiterated in a statement that assaults on humanitarian workers or operations constitute violations of international humanitarian law and undermine the essential lifelines upon which millions trapped in war zones or disaster areas depend.
Additionally, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported documenting over 800 attacks targeting healthcare services across 16 territories, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,100 medical professionals and patients.
