UN Official: Palestinian Reporters Paid with Their Lives for Truth in Gaza

UN Under Secretary General for Global Communications, Melissa Fleming, affirmed that preventing international journalists from entering the Gaza Strip during the war was a severe blow to press freedom, underlining that the UN had consistently called on the Zionist occupation to allow international reporters to enter and cover events on the ground.
Fleming pointed out that it was so disappointing that international journalists were not allowed to enter Gaza to cover the war, adding that it was up to brave Palestinian journalists to take the front lines and many of them paid with their lives for the truth.
She said that numerous colleagues had to perform multiple roles as reporters and spokespersons to provide the world with images and videos revealing the extent of destruction and human tragedy.
She added that media coverage was not balanced enough, but stressed that the UN had made every effort to highlight the facts and document the violations.
