UN: Gaza Facing Severe Shortages in Livelihood Opportunities and Shelter Access

NEW YORK – The United Nations has renewed its warning over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing that Palestinians are facing increasingly dire shortages of shelter and livelihood opportunities amid relentless Zionist aggression.
In a statement published on its official website, the UN documented a series of Zionist violations against civilians in Gaza since Sunday. The statement noted that many displaced families, forced to flee schools hit by Zionist shelling, have been compelled to return to northern Gaza due to the lack of alternative shelter or basic means of survival elsewhere.
According to the UN, five school buildings used as shelters in northern Gaza were targeted by Zionist shelling in the past 48 hours, leading to deaths and injuries. The Zionist forces have continued to issue evacuation orders across several areas in the Strip, often preceding strikes by only minutes, leaving residents with little time to flee.
The repeated displacement and shrinking safe zones have left less than 18% of Gaza habitable, the UN reports. UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric confirmed that since the latest evacuation order on Sunday, at least 1,500 families have been forcibly displaced from northern and eastern Gaza.
Dujarric warned that diminishing humanitarian aid and services are threatening the survival of the population. He called for immediate action to open all crossings and enable the uninterrupted flow of life-saving supplies and humanitarian assistance.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also warned that more vital facilities may soon be forced to shut down. The World Food Programme (WFP) echoed these concerns, warning that the window to avert a full-blown hunger catastrophe in Gaza is rapidly closing.
