UN Chief Demands Probe into Zionist Massacre of Civilians Seeking Food in Gaza

NEW YORK – UN Secretary-General António Guterres has condemned the killing and wounding of civilians in Gaza while seeking food, calling it “unacceptable” and urging an “immediate and independent” investigation into the incident. The statement was conveyed by his deputy spokesperson, Farhan Haq, during a press briefing in Geneva.

The condemnation follows a massacre committed by the Zionist occupation army on Tuesday morning at the Tahlia Roundabout in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. Zionist forces opened fire on crowds waiting for humanitarian aid, killing 51 Palestinians and injuring more than 200 others—20 of them critically. Haq relayed Guterres’ outrage over civilians once again being “shot while seeking food,” underscoring the dire conditions created by the ongoing blockade.

Guterres reaffirmed the urgent need for accountability and demanded unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza, stressing that the basic needs of Palestinians remain unmet. The UN reiterated its call for the protection of humanitarian operations and personnel, emphasizing that all parties must respect international humanitarian law and ensure aid can be delivered safely and effectively.
