UN: Algerian FM Engages in Discussion with His Colombian Counterpart in New York

Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Community Abroad, and African Affairs, held bilateral talks on Thursday in New York with Colombia’s Foreign Minister, Luis Gilberto Murillo. This meeting occurred on the sidelines of high-level discussions organized as part of Algeria’s presidency of the United Nations Security Council, as reported by the ministry.

The meeting provided an opportunity to assess the current state and future prospects of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as well as to identify ways to further coordinate support for just causes globally, according to the same source. The discussions also underscored Algeria’s commitment, as a member of the Security Council, to supporting the implementation efforts of the 2016 Peace Agreement in Colombia.

Additionally, the Minister of State met with Panama’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Carlos Ruiz-Hernandez, to discuss various issues aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing coordination between the two nations during their non-permanent membership terms on the Security Council, the statement concluded.
