UK : PM Starmer to hold emergency meeting as riots take an alarming turn

LONDON – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will hold an emergency meeting with police chiefs on Monday as anti-immigration protests become fatal, with rioters setting vehicles on fire and targeting the hotels of asylum seekers.
Police have blamed the online disinformation campaign, fuelled by prominent anti-immigration figures, including Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who led the anti-Islam English Defence League group. In addition to Elon Musk, the owner of X, who blamed mass migration and open borders for the disorder in Britain.
Interior minister, Yvette Cooper, noted that rioters, who are already agitated by widespread online misinformation, seized the opportunity of the attack “to stir up racial hatred.”
Riots have erupted across towns and cities since last week, following a knife attack that killed three girls in Southport, northwest England, with 420 people arrested so far.
