Uganda Aims to Leverage Algeria’s Expertise in Religious Affairs Management (Ugandan President’s Special Envoy)

ALGIERS, March 12, 2025 – In a statement made on Wednesday in Algiers, Mohamed Ahmed Kisuule, the special envoy of the Ugandan president and senior advisor for Middle Eastern affairs, expressed Uganda’s interest in learning from Algeria’s expertise in managing religious affairs.
Following a meeting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Ugandan official described their discussion as “fruitful,” noting that he had secured the president’s approval for Uganda to benefit from Algeria’s experience in this field.
He elaborated, stating that “the purpose of my visit is to gain insights into Algeria’s approach to managing religious affairs, particularly in terms of organization and development in accordance with global changes.” He added that “the president has agreed and requested his advisors to conduct further studies on the matter after Ramadan.”
The meeting also touched upon “commercial cooperation as a vital factor in strengthening relations between the two countries for the mutual benefit of both parties,” the Ugandan presidential envoy concluded.
