Two Dead, Six Missing After Flash Floods in Central China

Two people have died and six others remain missing after torrential rains struck Xixia District in the city of Nanyang, located in China’s central Henan Province, local emergency officials reported on Tuesday.

The heavy rainfall, measuring up to 225.3 mm in two townships, caused a sudden surge in water levels downstream from a local river. The floods damaged infrastructure and trapped several residents.

Emergency teams launched immediate rescue operations, managing to save two individuals. Efforts are ongoing to locate those still missing, authorities added.
