Turkey: 17 People Die After Consuming Toxic Alcohol

Seventeen individuals in Istanbul have died since late November, and 22 others have been hospitalized due to the consumption of contaminated alcohol, Turkish media reported on Wednesday.
Eight people suspected of distributing the alcohol linked to these fatalities have been arrested, according to the official Anadolu Agency.
Last week, authorities announced the seizure of 410 liters of ethanol and methanol, along with 165 bottles of smuggled alcohol and various substances used in alcohol production in Istanbul.
In late 2021, at least 25 people died within a few days across several provinces in the country. Furthermore, approximately 40 others had succumbed to poisoning a year earlier.
