Tunisia: Classes Suspended in Four Regions Due to Severe Weather

Tunisian authorities announced on Tuesday the suspension of classes in Sfax, Sousse, Mahdia, and Monastir due to heavy rainfall that occurred over the past 24 hours.

The Tunisian Press Agency (TAP) reported that in Sousse, Governor Sofiène Tanfouri declared the suspension of classes in various educational institutions and training centers in the region, effective immediately.

This decision was made by the regional disaster response and relief organization committee, following significant rainfall recorded in the area, according to the same source.

In Mahdia, the regional authority decided to suspend classes for the entire day on Tuesday in seven out of the 13 delegations within the governorate. The affected delegations include Mahdia, Rejiche, Ksour Essef, Sidi Alouane, Bradaa, Chebba, and Melloulech, as reported by TAP.

In Monastir, authorities announced a full-day suspension of classes in primary and secondary schools, as well as vocational training centers across all delegations.

In Sfax, it was also decided to suspend morning classes in educational institutions at all levels. Thunderstorms are expected to continue on Tuesday in the eastern regions of the country, according to a weather update issued by the National Institute of Meteorology (INM), as noted by TAP.
