Trump Says US in ‘Serious Discussions’ with Iran, Warns of Strikes if Deal Fails

US President Donald Trump said Washington is engaged in “serious discussions” with what he described as a “new, more reasonable” leadership in Iran aimed at ending the ongoing war, claiming that “great progress has been made.”
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump indicated that a deal could be reached soon, but warned that failure to secure an agreement—particularly if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened—could trigger a major escalation. He threatened potential strikes on Iran’s critical infrastructure, including oil facilities, power plants, and Kharg Island.
Despite signaling openness to a diplomatic resolution, Trump’s remarks underscored a dual-track approach combining negotiations with military pressure, raising concerns about further escalation if talks collapse.
