Trump Says Putin and Zelensky Not Ready for Talks but Hints at Upcoming Shift

US President Donald Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky are “not ready yet” for negotiations, but hinted that an event is on the horizon that could change their stance. Speaking in an interview with CBS News, Trump emphasized, “Something is going to happen, but they are not ready yet. But something is going to happen. We are going to get it done.”

The US leader admitted that he initially believed the Ukraine conflict “would have been on the easier side,” but has since come to recognize its complexity, calling it “a little bit more difficult than some of the others.” His remarks highlight the ongoing uncertainty surrounding prospects for peace, despite his continued push for a resolution.

Trump described his outlook on the issue as both realistic and optimistic, suggesting that while the path forward remains challenging, he is confident progress can be achieved. His comments reflect Washington’s ongoing involvement in efforts to influence the direction of the conflict and encourage negotiations, even as the two sides remain reluctant to engage.
