Trump Says Gaza Ceasefire Deal Likely This Week Ahead of Netanyahu Meeting

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump announced Sunday that a ceasefire deal with Hamas could be reached within the week, raising hopes for progress on the Gaza conflict. Speaking to reporters in Morristown, New Jersey, Trump stated, “I think there’s a good chance we have a deal with Hamas during the week.”

The announcement comes just ahead of Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, where he is set to meet with Trump at the White House on Monday. Their discussions will focus on the Gaza ceasefire, a potential prisoner exchange, and broader regional issues.

When asked about his upcoming meeting with Netanyahu, Trump hinted at more ambitious diplomatic goals, saying, “We’re working on a lot of things with Israel, and one of the things is probably a permanent deal with Iran.” This marks Netanyahu’s third visit to the U.S. in six months, with additional meetings scheduled with senior administration officials and congressional leaders from both parties.
