Trump Says Ending Ukraine Conflict Will Be Easier Following Gaza Ceasefire Success

US President Donald Trump said he once believed that resolving the conflict in Ukraine would be easier than achieving a peace agreement in the Gaza Strip. Trump reflected on the complexity of recent negotiations that led to the Gaza ceasefire. “I thought it would be easily settled. I thought it would be a hell of a lot easier than doing what we’ve just successfully done with Israel,” he said.
The US president praised his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, calling him a “great negotiator,” and credited him with helping to avert what could have escalated into World War III. Trump added that he remains hopeful the conflict in Ukraine will come to an end soon, reaffirming his commitment to pursuing peace through diplomatic engagement.
Indirect negotiations between the Zionist entity and Hamas resumed on October 6 under the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey. Three days later, on October 9, both sides signed an agreement marking the first phase of Trump’s peace plan. The ceasefire in Gaza officially came into effect on October 10, signaling what Trump described as a “turning point for peace and stability in the region.”
