Trump Reaffirms Stance, Commits Washington to Ukraine Peace Deal

US President Donald Trump firmly asserted Washington’s stance on a long-term peace agreement in Ukraine during discussions with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Fox News. She emphasized that Trump, as a “negotiator-in-chief,” made it clear to Zelenskyy that the United States is serious about securing lasting peace. Leavitt also expressed satisfaction with the progress made in negotiations and hopes for a stable and enduring resolution to the conflict.

Leavitt noted that while she had not received updates on Russia’s response to the US-Ukraine discussions in Jeddah, key officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, were actively engaged in the matter. She confirmed that Trump was closely monitoring developments in Saudi Arabia and was continuously briefed on the situation.

Following the US-Ukrainian talks in Jeddah, Zelenskyy’s office released a joint statement outlining key agreements. The statement indicated that Ukraine had agreed to Washington’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. In exchange, the United States committed to resuming intelligence sharing and providing further assistance to Ukraine. These developments signal a potential shift in the trajectory of the ongoing conflict.
