Team Trump’s Plans for Resolving the Ukrainian Conflict Exclude NATO Membership

Reuters reports that Team Trump has developed three key proposals for resolving the ongoing Ukraine crisis, all of which involve excluding Ukraine from NATO membership. These plans were devised by key advisors to the incoming president.
Keith Kellogg’s Outline: Trump’s incoming Russia-Ukraine envoy, Keith Kellogg, proposes a ceasefire based on freezing the current battle lines at the time of a settlement. The proposal includes a suspension of Ukraine’s NATO membership aspirations.
Richard Grenell’s Proposal: Former Acting Director of National Intelligence, Richard Grenell, suggests creating autonomous zones in eastern Ukraine as part of a peace agreement. He argues that Ukraine’s membership in NATO is not in the best interests of the United States.
JD Vance’s Plan: Vice President-elect JD Vance advocates for the demilitarization of the border between Russia and Ukraine. He also proposes providing Russia with guarantees that Ukraine will not join NATO.
The head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergey Naryshkin, previously stated that the West’s discussions on freezing the conflict reflect Russia’s dominance on the battlefield. The Kremlin has also repeatedly emphasized the importance of achieving its objectives in the Ukrainian conflict, stressing that a freeze would not work.
