President Donald Trump has identified Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the primary obstacle to reaching a settlement in the Ukraine conflict, according to reports by Reuters. Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin is “ready to make a deal,” but when asked what was preventing progress, he replied succinctly: “Zelenskyy.”
Speaking to reporters, Trump emphasized the need for Kyiv’s consent to move forward. “We have to get Zelenskyy to go along with it,” he said, as quoted by Reuters, underscoring his view that the Ukrainian leader is impeding negotiations rather than facilitating them.
The assessment was echoed by Kirill Dmitriev, who stated that Trump is clear in his belief that Zelenskyy is sabotaging and delaying peace efforts.
