Trump Bars AP from Oval Office Over ‘Gulf of America’ Naming Dispute

US President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he will not allow the Associated Press (AP) back into the Oval Office until the news organization agrees to adopt the term “Gulf of America” instead of the Gulf of Mexico. Trump, speaking to reporters in Florida, stated that the AP would remain excluded from official events until it complies with his recent executive order mandating the name change.

Trump criticized the AP for refusing to follow what he described as “the law” regarding the renaming of the body of water. He accused the organization of using outdated terminology and claimed it has been consistently biased against him and his administration. “They’ve been very, very wrong on the election, on Trump, and on the treatment of Trump and conservatives,” he said.

The White House’s decision to bar the AP from events underscores ongoing tensions between Trump and major media outlets. Trump defended his stance by arguing that media organizations should adhere to his executive orders, emphasizing that he sees no need to accommodate outlets that do not align with his policies. “They’re doing us no favors, and I guess I’m not doing them any favors. That’s the way life works,” he added.
