Trump Asks Supreme Court to Address Federal Judges Blocking His Orders

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on the Supreme Court to “address the issue” of federal judges who have repeatedly blocked his executive orders since his return to the White House on January 20.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “If Chief Justice (John) Roberts and the Supreme Court do not immediately address this harmful and unprecedented problem, our country will be in serious danger!”
He added, “These judges want to wield presidential powers without winning 80 million votes. They want all the privileges but none of the risks.”
Trump’s request comes just two days after Chief Justice Roberts issued a rare public rebuke of the president for demanding the removal of a federal judge.
In a statement, Roberts said, “For more than two centuries, removal has not been an appropriate response to a dispute over a judicial ruling.” He emphasized that “the appeals process exists for this reason.”
Roberts’ statement came after Trump called for the removal of federal judge James Boasberg in Washington. Boasberg had recently issued a ruling temporarily halting deportations ordered by the Trump administration under an 18th-century law.
In the United States, federal judges are appointed for life by the president and can only be removed if Congress impeaches them for “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
The impeachment of federal judges is extremely rare, with the last instance occurring in 2010.
